CHROMagar™ CANDIDA Plus

CHROMagar™ Candida Plus is the first chromogenic isolation medium that detects and differentiates Candida auris from other major clinical Candida species such as C. albicans, C. tropicalis, C. glabrata or C. krusei.

Candida are yeasts involved in various infections called Candidiasis, which can affect damaged skin, respiratory tract, digestive and genitourinary systemsThese candidiasis can be serious with significant morbidity for nosocomial infections or in immunocompromised patients. Although C. albicans is still the main species involved, the frequent use of antifungal agents has caused other species such as C. tropicalis, C. krusei and C.glabrata.

In 2016, the World Health Organization added Candida auris to this list, with a prevalence of over 90% fluconazole resistance. In addition, some C. auris strains are multiresistant to amphotericin B, voriconazole, and echinocandins.
It is recommended to make a timely diagnosis for Candida in order to provide specific treatment as quickly as possible.
